From February 12 to 16, 2024, within the framework of the RESPO-VI project, we organized a workshop for students in STEM fields. Project partners developed an intensive interdisciplinary training program aimed at acquiring key 21st-century competencies. During the workshop, students from various countries gained a broad range of knowledge and skills, with a focus on creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving in an international learning environment. We monitored the development of two cross-disciplinary and three subject-specific competencies using the developed digital tool, RESPO-VI.
The program was delivered by experienced lecturers covering diverse areas, including the prevention of food waste, laboratory work in food waste, and sustainable technological innovations for food waste management. A visit to Jata Emona company was also organized. Over the five-day workshop, participants gained practical experience and developed specific knowledge that they can apply in their future careers in science, technology, and engineering.
The program was flexible and dynamic, allowing for both individual and group work and encouraged reflection on innovative business opportunities in a sustainable industrial environment. Through this, we contributed to the development of student competencies, enhancing their employment prospects and opening further educational and career paths in STEM fields.
